What area of New York should get a hotel?
My girlfriend and I go to New York in October (2009) and I want to be a cheap place, but we want to stay in a shelter either. We do not usually spend much on hotels as we like to spend more money having fun. We want to stay in Manhattan and placed so as not we have to spend much time on the subway.
Well, well, of course, everyone wants to be the center of Manhattan, which is why it is so expensive. Therefore, it would is worth looking a little more. One suggestion: Long Island City, Queens, just across the East River in Manhattan. The number 7 subway train is a couple of stops here and working Times Square directly, so you have easy access to Manhattan. If you are looking for a hotel in Long Island City, there are some options, but I suggest you check first La Quinta in Queens Boulevard, because unlike some others, is very close to a subway station.
