How do I look at the criminal court hearings in New York? Is it permissible for the public?

I have a school forces me to observe public hearings in New York Criminal Court. Now I have no idea how I can go for it. Do you need a special permit, or hearings are open the public? How do I know which room to go? Or better yet, how to find the view a specific date? Is there a calendar with dates?

Just go to court. All trials are public. Sit on one.
