Anyone who grew up within 50 miles of New York could call Jewish man from New York all over him. You know the look. No Anglo-Saxon, the investigation of northern Europe, Jewfro White Guy. That's me. At the time I grew up there were not many of us on television, Hanukkah songs are sung at Christmas and were told that Jews controlled the world supply of money. Money? Jack and the Jews is Bean Stalk fantasy, my family shtetl by definition, not rolling in the dough and not people we knew were Jewish.
However, we know that many rich black too. We lived crammed into a small garden apartment, living close to large private estates. (Some of them were so rich that even had second homes in places we've never heard of Oak Bluffs on Martha's Vineyard. I really messed up our mind with the young because he could not understand the concept of person with a second home when even the first time.)
We have all the children to the same elementary school, like, over the years, we've all done things together and we became a sort of family. This was the time when ethnic and people of color have been out of the mainstream, and we are a lot of empathy among us, blacks and Jews, I think it's because like us, they knew they were not quite the stereotype. I mean, people say the Jews are supposed who have money and be a good school, but many of us were simply how economists and others were not simply the brightest light bulb in the box. Meanwhile, badass ghetto types and become super athletes play big media and our friends were black never been arrested for a crime he had never met anyone who and devoted much time to be studying or playing basketball for Superfly was not even a dot on the radar.
A good to be a curious, non-Jewish children rich with lots of rich black friends, was the sympathy which was often invited to his big house and nice BBQ courtyard to play with the dog because outdoor grilling in the garden Apartment Pets is a no-no – and is not allowed in apartments. These outings have always been a great joy and believe me he was very grateful for them.
The early cross-cultural experiences have been an important part of me and my friends that I never gave a second thought until recently, when my wife said: "Poor Jews, rich blacks" sounds counterintuitive. Of course it is correct. When we travel I can still take a "You're a Jew from New York, should to be rich "Moron some semi-conscious and this is not how I identify. If all this is from my childhood with the identity of the race which was to be heard" Hey, he is black. You have to be rich.
