new years nyc open bar

in Times Square. I'm a little worried about standing for hours in the cold and wonder if anyone has any suggestions how best to live. I'm not ashamed of being in the center, just want to be part of the experience. We are willing to pay for a bar or restaurant has a view. We are open to suggestions from others so any advice is appreciated. We are staying at a hotel in New York, but do not overlook the plaza.
I would go to a bar or restaurant. It will be expensive, but I prefer to live up to the hype …. but some people like it.
